Renewable energy · Kentucky

Wind power from Kentucky’s high ground.

Black Mountain Wind is a Kentucky-based renewable energy company working to bring clean, homegrown wind power to the Commonwealth.

Approach

Good wind projects start with the land and the people on it.

  1. 01

    Find the wind

We look for ridgelines and open ground where the wind resource is strong and steady enough to make a project worth building.

  2. 02

    Partner locally

Landowners and neighbors come first. We work directly with the people whose land and communities a project touches, and we answer the phone.

  3. 03

    Build for the long run

From permitting through interconnection, we develop projects meant to produce clean power, and local value, for decades.

4,145ft Black Mountain, Harlan County: the highest point in Kentucky

Why the name

Named for the top of the state.

Black Mountain rises above Kentucky’s Appalachian east, the highest ground in the Commonwealth. Our name is a nod to that ridge and to the idea behind the company: Kentucky has its own energy to put to work, and the wind that crosses these hills is part of it.
